→ FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Quick answers on Model AB, from construction and connections to sizing and sampling.

What is a brazed plate heat exchanger?

A compact heat exchanger made of corrugated stainless steel plates (AISI 316L / 304) brazed together with copper (Cu 99.9%) in a vacuum furnace. The result is a single hermetically sealed block, with no gaskets.

What does plug & play mean for Model AB?

Model AB has a format designed to be dimensionally interchangeable with the most used heat exchangers for domestic hot water modules and economizers, so it can be installed without redesigning the system. Performance in your application should always be verified with our technical team.

How many plates does Model AB have, and how do I choose?

Model AB is available from 6 to 60 plates. The right number depends on the power, temperatures and allowable pressure drop of your application: send us your operating data and our technical team will size the heat exchanger.

What is the difference between the series?

DM is for water-water duties (domestic hot water, heating interface units, substations); DBE is the evaporator version and DBC the condenser version for small heat pumps; DS is the steam-water version. The number indicates the pressure class: 1 = 16 bar, 2 = 31 bar, 3 = 45 bar at 135 °C / 49 bar at 110 °C.

What are the operating limits?

Operating temperature from −196 to +150 °C. Maximum pressure 49 bar at 110 °C (45 bar at 135 °C), depending on the series.

Can I request a sample?

Yes. Polidoro runs a dedicated line for samples and small batches, so prototypes can be supplied without waiting for series production. Use the contact form below.

Which connection types and accessories are available?

Connections are threaded as standard; soldered, inner threaded, welded and Victaulic® versions are also available. On request we supply brackets, stud bolts, adapters and polyurethane insulation shells.

How do I size the heat exchanger?

Use the Davhex selection software, available on davhex.com after licence activation: it gives the optimal sizing for your project. For dedicated versions or custom distributors, our technical team can run specific tests.
